How to Download Instagram Reels in Original Quality

To save a public Instagram Reel, copy its share link, paste it into FastSaver's Instagram downloader, and hit download. You get the original MP4 with sound, no watermark, no login. It takes about thirty seconds on any device.

Instagram does have its own download button, but it's hit or miss. You need an account to use it, creators can switch it off for their posts, and when it does work the clip often comes back stamped with a logo and username. A browser downloader skips all of that for public Reels.

Download a Reel in five steps

  1. Copy the link. Tap the share icon (the paper plane) under the Reel and choose Copy link. Watching on instagram.com instead? Just grab the URL from the address bar.
  2. Paste it into FastSaver. Open fastsaver.io and drop the link in the box. There's a paste button if you don't feel like long-pressing, and it detects Instagram links on its own.
  3. Hit download. Reels come through as a single file at whatever quality they were posted in, so there's no menu to deal with.
  4. Find the file. Android and desktop put it in your Downloads folder with a proper filename. On iPhone, tap the download arrow in Safari and the video lands in the Files app.
  5. iPhone only: move it to Photos. Open the video in Files, tap Share, then Save Video. It shows up in your camera roll like anything you filmed yourself.

If the link doesn't work

Three things won't download no matter what tool you use: Reels from private accounts, Stories, and posts that have already been deleted. FastSaver handles public Reels, feed videos, and photos, and that's it. If some other site claims it can grab private content or Stories, close the tab.

Check what you copied, too. A profile URL won't do anything; the link has to point at the specific Reel, so it should have /reel/ in it somewhere. Photos work much the same way, and there's a separate guide to downloading Instagram photos if that's what you're actually after.

Sound, quality, and where files end up

The audio comes with the video. You get a normal MP4 with the Reel's original soundtrack, exactly as it plays in the app. There's no audio-only MP3 option for Instagram though, so if what you really want is a song you heard in a Reel, look for the official release instead.

Quality matches whatever the creator uploaded. Nothing gets compressed or re-encoded, and no watermark gets added on top.

On iPhone, downloads can feel like they vanish because iOS tucks them into the Files app instead of Photos. The walkthrough on saving videos on iPhone and Android shows exactly where to look and how to get clips into your camera roll for good.

Frequently asked questions

Do downloaded Reels keep the original sound?
Yes. You get a standard MP4 with the original audio included. There is no separate audio-only MP3 option for Instagram.
Can I download Reels from a private account?
No. Only public Reels work, and any tool that promises otherwise is misleading you.
Do I need an Instagram account?
No. FastSaver runs in your browser with no login. All you need is the link to the Reel.
Is it legal to download Instagram Reels?
Saving public content for personal offline viewing is generally fine; reposting it or using it commercially without permission is where you run into trouble.
